Manilva

Manilva itself is the most westerly coastal village in the province of Malaga; it stands on the border with the Province of Cadiz, in an enchanting area of winding cliffs called “Punta Chullera”.

Manilva, of which Sabinillas and Puerto de Duquesa are a part of, is one of the Costa del Sol’s fastest growing and up and coming areas. The Municipal of Manilva covers an area of 35 square kilometres.

Part of its fascinating history dates back to Roman times and this can still be seen as there are still some remarkably well preserved 17th Century Roman Sulphur Baths and an aqueduct.

The main product grown in and around Manilva are the Moscatel grapes provided by the beautiful vineyards surrounding Manilva; these are used to create the local sweet wine.

Manilva is simple and unpretentious, and although a healthy growing village, it is usually given a miss by the majority of tourists who seem to make a bee line for the coast road, which incidentally does not run through the village.
