Benahavis
Nestled in the mountains, the charming, the white village of Benahavis is locally know for its fabulous gastronomy and artisan feel.
It has the highest concentration of high class restaurants in the Malaga region and draws visitors by the thousand who come simply to savour the cuisine.
In spite of this, it has remained remarkably unspoiled, with the winding narrow streets typical of the Pueblos Blancos (white villages) in Andalucia.
Benahavis is one of the most mountainous areas on the western end of the Costa del Sol. The municipality extends to 14,575 hectares with more than seventy percent of this area being officially classified as of environmental interest. One of the most beautiful parts of the area is Las Angosturas, rich in wildlife and vegetation and ideal for rural tourism, trekking and cycling right through the year.
The village of Benahavis stands at an elevation of 500 metres above sea level. It is reached by driving 7 kilometres inland from the N340 coast road, through the Guadalmina gorge up into the hills.
